Romanesque architecture in Prague

A prime example of Romanesque architecture in Prague is the St. George's Basilica, at the Prague castle.

Founded by Vratislav I. around the year 920AD as the second church in the founding settlement of  Prague. It was consecrated in  925AD, on the occasion of the transfer of the relics of St. Ludmila of Tetín.
It present  appearance, with  a baroque facade was added in 1722 covering the original Romanesque entrance.

Its colorful and rich baroque facade is in sharp contrast with the simplistic, plane and massive Romanesque styling from 920.
As is typical for Romanesque architecture, the church towers have  a stone roof  supported by  thick wall , which could only accommodate small and deep windows, for structural safety.
